Meet Assistant Coach Taylor Zordel
Hi my name is Taylor Zordel and this was my first season as an assistant coach for the WU softball program. I primarily work with infielders as well as putting together most of our conditioning workouts – talk about the girls having a love-hate relationship with me! I played softball and graduated from ESU with a Bachelor’s in Health Promotion. I just recently graduated a year ago from KU Med and am a Physical Therapist at Restore Physical Therapy here in Topeka. Fun fact about me – I name all of my animals after major league baseball players. I have a Great Dane/German Shepherd mix named Whitley (after Whit Merrifield) and a cat named Tulo (after Troy Tulowitzki). In my free time I am still a super softball nerd and I play traveling slow pitch as much as I can.

Everything happens for a reason:
I’m probably speaking for most of you, but I truly never thought something like this would happen in my lifetime. Regardless of the negativity this virus has spread throughout the world, this time has really given me some time to think about the positives in my life and the things I am thankful for. I remember less than two years ago my goal in life was to go as far away from the Midwest as humanly possible – to start a new life on a beach with no ties to the past. Fast forward to today and I am in the exact same place I was born, completely opposite of my “dream”. Dreams change, people change and I wholeheartedly believe things happen for a reason. I have never been happier, all round, in my life – physically, mentally, and emotionally. I have two dream jobs, I met the love of my life, I have the perfect family and friends all in the place I once thought I couldn’t be happy.  This time has taught me that things don’t always have to be as they once were. This time has taught me to always find a positive out of something so negative. And this time has taught me to love the life you live, even when things aren’t necessarily going your way. In saying so, I love this job, I love my fellow coaches, and I love these girls and I am so thankful for the opportunity. Go Bods!
