Who is Cassidy Greer?
Hello, my name is Cassidy Greer and I am a junior catcher for Washburn! I graduated from high school in 2017 from Gardner Edgerton in Gardner, Kansas. After graduating from Gardner, I decided to go to Highland Community College. When I graduated from Highland, I received my Associate of Arts degree. I then decided to go to Washburn and continue playing softball while majoring in communications.  After I graduate from Washburn, I would like to start taking classes learning sign language to become an interpreter!

My new life:
After I found out that the season was cancelled and all classes were to be moved online, I decided to go back home and be with my family during these times. I realized that I couldn't just sit around all day so I decided to get a job. I now work at Walmart Distribution Center from 5 am to 3 pm throughout the week. After I get home from work, I do homework. I do homework from the time I get home to about the time I go to bed most nights! I try to stay connected with my friends during this time, but it's hard because were all doing our own thing right now! As from a team standpoint, I love doing the zoom meetings because we can all somewhat be together and talk about everything that has been going on in our lives!

 Staying positive
Through these times it is really hard to look for the positives. I am someone who always tries to find the positive in every situation. If you know me, you know that my dad is my best friend. He and I used to do everything we could with each other. He would come to all of my games and support every single one of my teammates. But then, in one day, our lives changed. On November 1, my dad was riding his bike with our dog Zeus (like he usually does) and something happened that made him fall off the bike. He doesn't remember it, but, he was in the hospital and rehab for several weeks. He ended up having two brain surgeries, broken ribs, and a broken collar bone. It was a really difficult time, but the people who got me through it was my Washburn softball family. They were there for me every step of the way. My dad recently moved back to Gardner after staying in both Tennessee and Illinois during his recovery. I am very grateful for where he is today. I can't wait to get back on the field with my team and with my dad in the stands! Love y'all!!!
